A Conversation with Calin Rovinescu

Join us, on November 22, 2022, at 7 pm, at Holy Blossom Temple, Toronto, for an event moderated by Sarah Fulford, Editor in Chief at Maclean’s Magazine.

This event will also include access to the Refuge Canada Tent exhibit, created by the Canadian Museum of Immigration at Pier 21 and supported by TD Bank Group and the Love the Stranger exhibit, curated by the Ontario Jewish Archives.

Calin Rovinescu was born in Bucharest in 1955 and came to Montreal by boat when he was five years old. Sixty dollars and two suitcases were all his family had.

Canada welcomed over 400,000 new permanent residents in 2021 – the greatest number of newcomers in a year in Canadian history.

For more than 20 years, Mr. Rovinescu practiced law with one of Canada’s leading law firms. In 2009 he was appointed Air Canada’s President and CEO. During his nearly 12-year tenure, he led Air Canada’s transformation into one of the world’s leading airlines, expanding its network worldwide, producing record financial results, and receiving numerous customer and employee engagement awards. He was recognized as Canada’s Outstanding CEO in 2013, 2016, and 2019. Today, He is a Member of The Order of Canada, A Companion in the Canadian Business Hall of Fame, Chancellor of The University of Ottawa, and a director of Scotiabank and BCE Inc., in addition to other advisory roles.
