DESCRIPTION:Who can participate?\nNewcomer youth who: \n\nAre clients of JIAS Toronto (if you are not a client\, please contact intake at 416-630-6481)\nArrived in Canada on September 1\, 2025 or later; recommendation from your JIAS Settlement worker is also accepted\nAre entering Grades 1-12 in September 2026\nWant to improve their English skills\nWould like to prepare for the upcoming school year\n\nWhat: This is a two-week program for newcomer school-aged children that is meant to introduce them to the Ontario School System. Students will become familiar with a typical school day routine and English terms associated with school and learning. This is a great opportunity for newcomer children to practice their language skills and socialize with others.\nWhere: Bathurst and Steeles\nWhen: Monday\, August 10th\, 2026 – Friday\, August 21st\, 2026 (9:00 am – 3:00 pm)\nDrop off is between 8:45 am – 9:00 am. Ready for School is for Monday-Friday only.\nThere is a mandatory orientation to the program on the evening of Thursday\, August 6th (pizza dinner for parents and children included). All parents and students are asked to attend. \n\nStudents will have the opportunity to meet their teachers and students that will be in their class\nParents will have the opportunity to review the program\, guidelines\, and policies\n\nCost: FREE of charge \nRegistration link: jiastoronto.tfaforms.net/5099423
