Meet with a Settlement Worker
Starting over in a new country can feel overwhelming—but you don’t have to do it alone. JIAS is here to support you every step of the way.
As a JIAS client, you and your family will be matched with a Settlement Worker. When you meet with a JIAS settlement worker, they will take the time to understand your unique needs, goals, and situation. From there, they will provide free, personalized support to help you navigate life in your new city, community, province, and Canada as a whole.
Settlement workers are a destination for several resources and can help you with:
- Immigration procedures and documentation
- Finding housing
- Understanding and accessing health care
- School and childcare
- Language training and employment supports
- Community programs and services
They can also provide referrals for every member of your family and may connect you with long-term Canadian volunteers who offer additional guidance, friendship, and support as you settle into your new life.
