There are many ways to support refugee resettlement through JIAS. Whether you're interested in sponsoring a refugee family, making a donation, or volunteering your time, you can play a meaningful role in helping newcomers build safe, stable, and successful lives in Canada.
Sponsor a Refugee or Family
One of the most meaningful ways to support refugee resettlement is by forming a Constituent Group (CG).
Constituent Groups are made up of families, friends, faith communities, community organizations, or other local groups who come together to sponsor a refugee family through Canada's Private Sponsorship of Refugees Program.
Working closely with us, Constituent Groups welcome refugee families and provide practical, financial, and emotional support throughout their first year in Canada.
Constituent Groups are located in the same community where the refugee(s) will be settling and help families with:
- Securing safe housing
- Providing financial support during the first year
- Connecting families with healthcare, schools, and community services
- Supporting English language learning and everyday life in Canada
- Building friendships and helping newcomers feel a sense of belonging

Other Ways to Support Refugee Sponsorship
Through Giving
Private refugee sponsorship is made possible through the generosity of our community.
Your support helps ensure sponsored families have access to essentials such as housing, food, transportation, communication, and other basic needs as they establish their new lives in Canada. This support allows them to fully focus on successfully settling in their new home.
You can support refugee resettlement through JIAS by donating to JIAS’s PSR program to support broader refugee sponsorship initiatives.
Volunteer
Volunteers help create an essential warm and welcoming experience for newly arrived refugee families.
Whether you're helping families navigate their new community, providing practical support, or sharing your time and skills, volunteers play an important role in helping newcomers feel connected and supported.
