JIAS has sponsored over 1000 refugees from Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan, Eritrea, and elsewhere

JIAS Toronto is the only Jewish Sponsorship Agreement Holder with the federal government in Canada.

This allows JIAS to sponsor refugees to come to Canada through the Private Sponsorship of Refugees Program.

JIAS has sponsored refugees from Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan, Rwanda, Eritrea, and Vietnam. We partner with volunteer groups, called Constituent Groups, across the GTA, who provide financial and/or settlement support for these refugees and their families during their first year in Canada.

Constituent groups can be formed through synagogues, community and social groups, or families.  JIAS staff work closely with Constituent Groups to ensure that refugees are set up and welcomed upon arrival and connected with proper resources to support their settlement process here in Canada.
